Logo Designs

Sure, anyone with a copy of Photoshop and a working computer can claim to be a super-ninja logo designer nowadays.

But why would you sacrifice the most important aspect of your business’ identity for an amateur logo design? After all, your logo is a permanent fixture and chances are, you’ll have it for the life of your business.

Your logo must be creative and professionally designed.

It should be memorable, “buzz-worthy” and consistent across multiple channels of media (think print, think web, think mobile).

So what can you do, as a business owner, to acquire the perfect logo design for your new business?

In this post I’m going to discuss my secret little collection of logo design resources you can use to find inspiration for your business’ identity. I’m also going to show you a hidden goldmine where you can hire probably the best logo design talent in the world who are eager to jump on board and create a logo design for your business that will leave a lasting impression.

Logo design inspiration

So you have a vague idea of how you envision your future logo, but you still need that little bit of inspiration to push your idea that step further and get your creative juices flowing to the extreme. Here are 3 ‘must-visit’ websites to get your creativity flowing at max capacity:

LogoPond

LogoPond

I’ve known about LogoPond for a while and it’s one of my favourite places to checkout hundreds of incredibly creative logo designs spanning across a number of different industries and niches. This website will give you a high dose of inspiration, but be warned, you may find yourself browsing for hours through the many stunning logo designs these guys showcase.

Creattica

Creattica

Another favourite of mine is Creattica. This website not only showcases a wide selection of high-end logo designs but they also feature other creatives including business cards, web designs and even street art.

LogoFaves

Again, LogoFaves is another treasure chest for logo design inspiration featuring some of the most creative logos ever designed.

Where to get your perfect logo designed

Now that you’ve had your fix of logo design inspiration, I’ll now show you the best places on the net where you can purchase a logo template very affordably, or if money isn’t an issue, have a logo designed by professional (and incredibly talented) logo designers.

Inkd

Inkd

Inkd provides a unique service where you can purchase premium, high-quality logo design templates for a one time fee (usually around $90) or you can access their entire library of logo designs at a subscription price of $199 for 3 months. By spending just a few minutes on their site you can tell that their logos are far from amateur.

However, the downside of Inkd is that your logo isn’t unique to your business and it could potentially be used by hundreds of other businesses worldwide.

You would also need to know your way around Adobe CS or know someone who does to customize your logo for you.

If you’re on the smallest of budgets this would be an ideal place to secure a nice, clean and professionally designed logo for your business however keep in mind that other businesses may be using the same logo too.

BrandStack

BrandStack

Another goldmine for high-end logo design templates is BrandStack. It’s a logo marketplace where a huge number of talented logo designers place up identities they’re willing to sell. Most of the time these are logos which didn’t quite make the cut for their previous clients, or logos they designed when they had a bit of time to kill.

What makes BrandStack different is the fact that when you buy one of their logo templates you’ll be the sole owner of that logo and it will be unique to your business. If you’re confident using Photoshop and Illustrator you can customize your logo template with your business name yourself – Or alternatively, they also provide a customization service for you too.

BrandStack Custom

BrandStack Custom

If you’re starting out with a decent sized budget you may also like to consider BrandStack Custom.

An extension of BrandStack, this service will allow you to browse through several incredibly talented logo designers’ portfolios and choose one or even several of these designers to go head-to-head with each other to produce a logo for your business and you then award the ‘winning designer’ (which you choose) with prize money for their hard work.

This is by far the best way to secure an incredible logo design as you place some of the most talented logo designers up against each other to create a beautiful and professional logo. It does come at a hefty price but is definitely worth it if your business’ identity is important to you (which it should be).

As web designers, we’re always being asked to design logos for our clients. However web designers aren’t necessarily logo designers and even though we could provide professional logo designs we usually leave it up to the people who are hands-down veterans in their field of logo and identity design.

In saying that, it is far easier to create a professional, high-end web design when a client has utilized the services of a creative and professional logo designer.
